This patented product, with over 1,000 units installed worldwide, is saving the Operator significant costs by minimizing downtime and increasing the run life of the ESP. Here are some in-field examples…
ADV Saves North Slope Operator $4.9M Over Three Years Back in 2009, a customer was utilizing a sliding sleeve assembly in a 20 well development along Alaska’s North Slope. The original design used a mechanical sliding sleeve to divert flow around the dormant pump during the well’s natural flow stage. Each time the sleeve required repositioning a wireline trip was used potentially causing extended rig time on the wells. Estimations are that each wells’ sleeve needed to be repositioned one to two times annually resulting in significant intervention costs and deferred production.
Our engineers suggested replacing the sliding sleeve assemblies with an ADV. The ADV automatically opens and closes from the pressure or lack thereof supplied by the ESP. When pressure increases the valve closes allowing production through the tubing. Conversely when the ESP shuts down, pressure is decreased and the valve slides open allowing falling fluids to flow back into the annulus rather than through the pump. This helps to decrease plugging and increases the run-life of the pump. To maximize production before the pump is started the ADV valve allows for natural flow around the pump. ADV’s have a proven track record of lasting the life of an ESP pump eliminating wireline intervention costs and minimizing deferred production from downtime.
