With increasing well depth on more difficult reservoirs, higher power ESP motors are required for economic well production. To facilitate this, RMSpumptools has developed higher power packer and wellhead connectors to pass through the pressure boundaries.

Recent projects have used up to 8kV, 250A and up to 13,000psi rated systems. These are also being specified where there is a desire to run in unbalanced mode, to ensure the electrical system can cope with the increased phase voltage. This has allowed completions to continue to run successfully with an Earth fault and in turn, delaying the workover.

To ensure systems will meet the requirements, RMSpumptools has developed a test and qualification programme based on industry standards, to ensure that these complex products will exceed the requirements of the industry.

These tests typically include thermal aging, power frequency, breakdown tests, pressure and temperature cycles, rapid gas decompression and rated current tests, and have become the company standard for future product development.
