Low Flow ADV® Success for Coal Bed Methane

The ADV, typically used in conjunction with ESP’s for oil production, has been re-designed for a new application to assist in extracting methane gas from coal seams. Used alongside an ESP (usually a 400 Series, but can vary on a well by well basis), the new ‘Low Flow ADV’, measuring 2-3/8” has been specifically designed to cope with extremely low flow rates, down to 60bPD.

The principal factor that initiated the development of the Low Flow ADV was similar to that of it’s bigger 3-1/2”, 4-1/2” and 7” counterparts – the ability to prevent solids from falling back and entering the ESP, and facilitating natural flow to surface.

The new ADV has proved extremely beneficial with eleven units installed, all operating as expected. Testament to the ADV’s performance, the customer stated that

“they will not run ESPs without this particular ADV in the well.”
